REQUIREMENTS FOR INTERNATIONAL INTERNSHIPS (ANI-AMLI) International School of Economic and Administrative Sciences (EICEA) of the Sabana University
Requirements for the programs of International Business and International Marketing and Logistics
1. The company where the student will make his/her internship must be legally established and have at least 5 years of constitution, contribute with real and tangible benefits to the community with a sustainable development in the country of origin of the company, and be evaluated by the Internships Area of the EICEA in order to be accepted. If the Internship is arranged by the student, he/she should present a certificate of legal constitution and representation of the company (or its equivalent in the foreign country) to the EICEA Internships Coordination Area.
2. The roles that the student will play during his internship must be according to his/her career and have a professional level. It is necessary to send a job description to the Internships Coordination Area of the EICEA. The student should hand in a document with the detailed activities of the company and the requirements or competencies required by the enterprise in order to hire him/her as an intern.
3. Academic requirements:
a. Be up to date with all the subjects from the student program. b. Be enrolled at the university. c. Have already finished and approved the internships seminary. d. Have taken and approved the TOEFL test (minimum score: 61). The students with a student code above 2003-I from the International Business Administration Program, should have accredited a third language.
4. Duration of the Internship: For the International Business Administration program, the internship duration is one year; the student has the option to do one year of internship at the same company or periods of 6 months in 2 different companies. For the International Marketing and Logistics program the internship duration is 6 months (9th Semester). The internship will be developed according to the working schedule of the company.
5. Tutor: The company abroad must appoint a tutor to the student, equivalent to his/her boss at the company; his/her name, email and telephone number should be informed to the Internships Area through the Internships Coordinator. The student will have an additional tutor appointed by the Internship Area of the EICEA. The tutor must be in constant communication with the student, will monitor permanently the objectives proposed and will also review the periodic reports according to the dates arranged for its delivery.
6. The company must be explicit communicating if the internship will be paid or not. The student has the option to choose whether he/she want to accept an unpaid internship.
7. The students should go through all the tests and selection process of the international company. If the student is not selected by the organization, he/she will be responsible of searching a local internship with the support of the Internships Area.
8. The student must accomplish the expectations of the company regarding work dedication and efficiency in order to avoid: expulsion, suspension or loosing the semester.
9. Abandoning the internship means a grade of 1.0/5.0 on the grade of the semester, meaning loosing the semester.
10. The student should deliver all the reports that are required by the Internship Area together with a concept of the tutor of the student at the company (or her/his boss).
11. The students abroad are governed by the internship regulations established by the International School of Economic and Administrative Sciences (EICEA) of the Sabana University.
12. Students must travel with the type of visa established for each country in order to do an international internship, for example a trainning visa or a student visa for trainees. (Tourist visa is not accepted).
13. All the internship process must be coordinated with the Head of International Relations and International Internships and the Internships Coordination Area at the EICEA, in charge of authorizing the internship. (The student should not act by him/herself during the international intership process).
14. To apply to the announcements related to international internships, offered by the Internships Area, the student should present to the Internships Coordination the following documents: parents’ authorization letter, letter of commitment signed by the student and one of his/her parents, 2 letters of recomendation given by teachers of the School, international internships form. (The forms for these 2 last documents will be provided by the Internships Area secretary or by the Internships Coordinator).
